Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science The $64M Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science was made possible through the generosity of Thomas M. Siebel, CEO of Siebel Systems and matching funding from the State of Illinois. [1] Ground was broken on the new facility on November 15, 2001, [2] and it was dedicated May 1, 2004. [3] The building's 225,000 square feet are intended to be a "computing habitat…incorporating intelligent technology that anticipates and responds to [human] activity". Designed by LZT Associates, Inc, and Bohlin, Cywinski, and Jackson, [4] the Siebel Center won the Illinois Engineering Council's 2004 Outstanding Engineering Achievement award. [5] Similar to the Beckman Institute, the Siebel Center features an onsite café, the Bevande Café, which offers a variety of food and beverage items.
